Every genre has certain tropes or reader expectations, for example, a romance book has a happily ever after. The best way to learn how to keep the pace of your book moving at the right speed is to read well received books in your genre. Some genres typically move quickly, while others are more of a slow burn. Getting the pacing wrong is a good way to put readers off your story and reading books by the masters of the genre you are writing in is a good way to make sure you know how reading makes you a better writer or slow your story should unfold.
